Research Activities

The Research Project has held a series of symposia in 2019, to engage with a range of participants from within and outside the University to discuss the concept of kindness.
These symposia focused on locating kindness in different spheres.

Below are the details for each of the symposia –

  • Agencies of Kindness in Creativity and Pedagogy – May 9, 2019

  • Agencies of Kindness in Economies and Ecologies – July 19, 2019
Visit the listen tab to hear Dr Christine Woods speak on appreciative inquiry at the Agencies of Kindness in Economies and Ecologies symposium.

A further symposium is to be held in 2020.

  • Agencies of Kindness in Politics and Policy, early 2020

The second phase of the research will use the data generated from the symposia alongside our own scholarly research in order to define the critical questions related to kindness, to establish the cultural, political and aesthetic methodological frameworks for the research, and identify areas of potential application and therefore focus.

We are working towards the publication of an edited collection, and will invite paper submissions both from within the research team and from those who have participated in the symposia, and will welcome a broad variety of submission forms – i.e., typical scholarly essays, shorter ‘think’ pieces, artist pages, interviews.
